No. 50 Lighthouse Street is a great throwback to Dutch colonial life in its heyday. The house with its white columned façade appears much as it would have 250 years ago, but inside you step into the 21st century avatar of it. A new contemporary extension blends seamlessly into the old along the length of a cobbled courtyard at the back. With two Balcony suites and a garden room spread out over the span of a block, this central Fort location affords peace and quiet on a busy street.
The Garden Balcony Suite is a two bedroomed unit on the first floor. Both rooms have an abundance of space and en-suite facilities. Each one is furnished with a four-poster king sized bed, canopied with mosquito nets and a carefully thought out seating area. Indian block printed fabrics, and Dhurrie rugs add spice to the space.
The Master Balcony Suite combines a large bedroom and living area on the first floor. A king sized bed with canopied mosquito net, comfortable lounge set and satellite TV are set upon a luxurious hardwood Teak floor. The room is decorated with fine contemporary art, textiles from India and Pakistan as well as a decorative coral wall on the balcony that looks out over the length of the garden.
The Garden Room on the ground floor, is a cosy and private bedroom. The furniture features a four poster king sized bed canopied with a mosquito net, a comfortable arm chair with a small coffee table, while an antique vanity is set against a modern bathroom with a walk-in rain shower. Indian fabrics and Dhurrie rugs add their vibe to the space.
